The Hot Club de Ma Rue was born in 2004 out of passion for Django Reinhardt’s music. At first, the group was composed of Martin Tremblay (guitarist) and François Rousseau (guitarist), but soon, they had the honor to play with various renowned musicians. The group also had the opportunity to accompany twice Patrick Saussois, a renowned Parisian guitarist. After an impressive journey (Festival de Jazz de Montréal, Festival de Jazz de Rimouski, Gala of Radio-Canada’s radio, Musique en Nous, les Déferlantes Atlantiques, and various shows in numerous concert rooms and bars in Montreal and other places in Quebec), the group took a new turn in 2005 with the encounter of the talented violinist Josianne Laberge (Polémil Bazar R.I.P.) whom is still very involved with the group. After the departure of François Rousseau, Olivier Pépin replaced him on rhythmic guitar. Mathieu Deschenaux (Gadji- Gadjo, Bobok), also rapidly became a solid pillar within the new formation’s rhythmic section. The Hot Club de Ma Rue plays surely the inspired and captivating music of the manouche master, Django Reinhardt. Furthermore, the group includes in its repertoire Valses Musettes, American swings, French songs and a few Tzigane songs.
