Chateauguay Tenors

The quiet Montreal suburb of Chateauguay happens to be home to a pair of Canada’s most exciting and talented young saxophonists. Al McLean, originally from Victoria, B.C. and Cameron Wallis from Winnipeg, Manitoba embarked on a friendship in the late 1990’s when they moved to Montreal to study tenor saxophone at McGill University. For over a decade these two young men have been a prominent force on the local and international jazz scenes, earning a reputation for continually raising the bar for all of the city’s jazz musicians, and boasting an exhaustive list of performance and recording credits. The Chateauguay Tenors perform music that is steeped in blues and North America’s original dance music. The band is a celebration of the saxophone and the music that made the instrument famous.
