Tom Csatari
In what began as a series of impromptu jam sessions amongst a group of aspiring performers and composers at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, this four-peice ensemble has developed—through long-standing friendships and performances—into a cohesive and recognizable unit. Led by guitarist/composer Tom Csatari, the group is based around the steady rhythm section of Eric Read (Chatham, NJ) and Matt Rousseau (Montreal, QC), and buoyed by the gritty leads of saxophonist Levon Henry (Los Angeles, CA). Inspired by such varied artists as Virgil Thomson, Attila Zoller, and Thelonious Monk, the music combines raw melodies with ringing electric guitar and a folk sensibility.
