As a followup to his acclaimed 2010 release Jerusalem Trilogy, pianist-composer and Justin Time recording artist Matt Herskowitz recently released Matt Herskowitz Upstairs, recorded here before a live audience. Drawing on his classical training and his deep love of jazz, the recording documents an intimate evening in November 2011, featuring an artful blend of musical styles with direct nods to Michel Petrucciani, Dave Brubeck, George Gershwin, J.S. Bach and Robert Schumann along the way. This evening, Matt will be performing some of the same repertoire featured on the recording, along with some new compositions and arrangements and a selection of his favourite standards.
