Hilario Durán is returning with his quartet Contumbao to perform tunes from his acclaimed Juno nominated album; he includes new original compositions and arrangements.

Contumbao is a project that literally has brought Durán back to his Cuban roots. The repertoire spans the entire spectrum of Cuban music featuring his authenticity and respect for the tradition. Hilario’s Contumbao takes us on a journey through AfroCuban music from its roots. Contumbao is a heartfelt homage to Cuba’s rich musical history. Indeed, Duran dedicates his album to Cuban music and its many musical styles “whose music and rhythms run through his veins.

Hilario Durán Contumbao, this evocative and well-conceived project, continues exploring deep into the entire spectrum of Afro-Cuban music, a new Latin Jazz repertoire that performs Son Montuno, Bembé 6 X 8, Danzon, and as always, enriched by the ‘Tumbao’.
