Jacob Wutzke Quartet ft. Alexander Claffy

Alexander Claffy is a bassist, composer and bandleader based in New York City. A mainstay of the New York scene since 2011, he has been seen working with many of his living heroes, including Jimmy Cobb, Louis Hayes, Harold Mabern, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Christian Scott, Joey Alexander, Wallace Roney, Joe Farnsworth and many more. In the past 3 years he has recorded for the Verve, HighNote, Positone, RopeADope and LaReserve record labels.
From birth, Claffy was raised in a musical household, and had many of his earliest lessons on bandstands in the heart of Philadelphia. As a teenager, Claffy was fortunate enough to find a mentor in many Philly natives, and has continued his study of the double bass with some of the world’s finest musicians, including Ron Carter, Dwayne Burno and Orin O’Brien.

Jacob Wutzke is a Montréal based drummer, bandleader, author, composer and music educator. Noted for his exceptional technique, creativity, and ability to listen and improvise in the moment, he is an in-demand sideman and bandleader in the jazz and creative music scenes.
A staple of the Canadian music scene, he has performed and recorded with Caity Gyorgy (2x JUNO Award Winner), Ira Coleman, Jocelyn Gould, Bryn Roberts, Pat LaBarbera, Sam Kirmayer and more. He has also self-published several drum method books that have become essential practice tools for drummers around the world, and leads a successful social media community.
Jacob has released 3 albums as a leader, and his latest release “You Better Bet” released on Cellar Music Group in January 2025.
