Marie-Anick Duhaime returns to the stage after a few years away, embracing the warmth and vibrant energy of Latin jazz.
Joined by bassist and musical director Alex Bellegarde and an exceptional group of musicians — Willie Barreto on piano, Diomer Gonzalez on percussion and Néstor Rodriguez on saxophone — she presents a repertoire where beloved jazz standards meet the rhythms and colours of Latin music.
Having studied with the legendary Sheila Jordan, and deeply influenced by artists such as Blossom Dearie and Anita O’Day, Marie-Anick brings a crystalline voice and a love of contrasts to her music. She is equally at home settling into the intimacy of a ballad, allowing words and silences to breathe, or surrendering to the energy of bebop. Intimate, playful and rhythmic the next, she sings with a sense of freedom and infectious joy that truly comes alive on stage.
