Gabe Newman is a jazz guitarist studying at McGill. He founded this quintet to explore both his own original music and some of his favorite jazz albums of all time. This group has performed Larry Young’s Unity, Wayne Shorter’s Juju, and Joe Henderson’s In n’ Out. These composers influence the band’s sound, and Newman’s music pushes them forward. This show will feature pieces from these albums, Newman’s original compositions, and a curated selection of jazz standards from the great American songbook.
