Jacob Wutzke Quartet ft. Danton Boller

The Jacob Wutzke Quartet featuring NYC’s Danton Boller performs hard swinging interpretations of original compositions by Wutzke and Boller, as well as selections from the Roy Hargrove songbook.

Danton Boller is a bassist, composer, producer, and educator in New York City. He has toured internationally and recorded with many top jazz artists as a member of the Roy Hargrove Quintet, Grammy nominated Roy Hargrove Big Band, Seamus Blake Quartet, Ari Hoenig’s “Punk Bop,” Willie Jones III Quartet, and the Grammy nominated Anthony Wilson Nonet and more. During his time with Roy Hargrove, Danton was featured on two of Hargrove’s most popular albums – “Earfood” (RH Quintet) and “Emergence” (RH Big Band). Hargrove’s “Strasbourg St. Denis” opens with Danton’s captivating bass intro, and has gone on to become one of the best known new jazz standards around the world. Danton’s 2023 release SPACE showcases his original compositions, arranging and producing. This debut album on his newly formed ONBO Records label features fellow Roy Hargrove Quintet alumni Justin Robinson, Willie Jones III, and Tadataka Unno, with the addition of John Ellis, Jeremy Wilms, and Yusuke Yamamoto.

Jacob Wutzke is a drummer, bandleader, composer and music educator. Noted for his precise technique, creativity, and joyful, uplifting sense of swing, he performs regularly both as a leader and as a sideman. A staple of the music scene, he has performed and recorded with Caity Gyorgy (2x JUNO Award Winner), Ira Coleman, Jocelyn Gould, Bryn Roberts and more. He also regularly tours with his own groups performing his original compositions and arrangements, and can be seen performing at prestigious clubs, halls, and jazz festivals around the globe. Jacob has released 3 albums as a leader — “You Better Bet” (2025, Cellar Music Group), “Show Yourself” (2023, Independent) and a duo album with saxophonist Lucas Dubovik entitled “Take it in Stride” (2024, Independent).
