Jaden Mavalwala is a young jazz drummer based in Montreal, steadily establishing himself across the city’s vibrant jazz scene. Drawing inspiration from the rich lineage of bebop and post-bop drummers, his playing reflects the influence of masters like Art Blakey, Max Roach, Roy Haynes and Tony Williams.
Joined by four formidable Montreal musicians, The Jaden Mavalwala Quintet will present a dynamic performance of heavy swinging hardbop arrangements, paying homage to an era marked by small ensemble interplay, groove-based music and intricate arrangements, all the while showcasing each member’s unique voice.
