Code Quartet is excited to release their sophomore album CODE RED. They are a powerhouse collective of four of Canada’s leading jazz improvisers and composers based out of Montreal. It includes trumpeter Lex French, alto and soprano saxophonist Christine Jensen, and the indestructible pillars of time and groove, Adrian Vedady on bass and Jim Doxas on drums.
Jensen has received multiple JUNO awards for her output, along with other accolades. Vedady and Doxas have lent their artistry to some of the world’s great jazz artists, including Carla Bley, Dave Douglas, Oliver Jones and Marc Copland. French is a bright star and leader of his own music on the Canadian jazz scene after a marked career in New Zealand. The quartet features original compositions that draw from each member’s unique background, depicting many moods and creating an organic dialogue. Their soundscape is diverse and refined, resulting in an exciting and engaging listening experience. They lean hard into jazz essentials of blues and swing, perfectly introducing their individual virtues.
