Celebrated pianist and composer Kate Wyatt has been praised as having “musical ideas and a style of playing and writing that is on par with the current jazz piano elite”, and has been hailed as “one of the top artists of Montreal, Quebec, or even Canadian jazz.” (Cardin/Brunet, panm360.com).
We invite you to a very special evening in celebration of the release of Wyatt’s latest album: « Murmurations ».
A murmuration is the phenomenon of hundreds of thousands of birds flying in mesmerizing harmony, responding to one another on a seemingly telepathic level. This project exemplifies that kind of effortless, magical, group chemistry: a sensibility that lies at the foundation of this trio. Kate Wyatt and her musicians connect on a deep musical level and display an amazing capacity for deep listening and group interplay, surprising and exciting their listeners with the continuous creation of spontaneous musical moments. Featuring original compositions and reimagined works from the Great American Songbook.
“Pianist and composer Kate Wyatt is making some of Canada’s most exciting and engrossing small-ensemble jazz these days”. – Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen
